Sir,

1. Round off 42365 to the nearest tens place.

what is role of "off" here ; it is and adverb or preposition.

"nearest" is modifying "tens place" or "place".

Adverb: 'Round 42365 off'.

'Nearest', like 'tens', modifies 'place'.

And the answer is-- '42370', right?-- if we always round up.
