Nowadays, I think Russia is more considered (sorry about that, but you asked my true opinion) as a decaying empire trying to get up from a long and painfull past. The problem is that there is so few informations about your country, how do you live ? Is the mafia so powerfull as it is said ? What about the cultural life in Russia ? what do you think of the rest of the wold ? Thinks are slowly getting better, this month in Brussels there is three exibitions about Russia (about the transyberian, the last Tsar and impressionist painters), but there's still so much things unknown about your country. But, talking about the attitude towards the rest of the world... I can say what people in my town usually do. If a man asks another man in the street how to get to a particular place and says he's a foreigner, you can easily mention that the Russian would be pleased to give an answer. Russian people travel often, but we rarely see foreign tourists with our own eyes.
