saguaro  kangaroo  rats generally leave watering holes , where food and water  are abundant , during the day  , while sonoran kangaroo  rats remain  near these same watering  holes and continue foraging throughtout the day . Although  sonoran  kangaroo rats have larger  and more frequent litters , they are generally outnumbered by the  saguaroo  rat.

bit confusing sentence . there are several commas also .here are my questions below

it says , "
saguaro  kangaroo  rats generally leave watering holes"  .......but where do they go ?
"
where food and water  are abundant" ...does it mean , watering holes had food and water ?
"
during the day  " .....what it means in this context ?

"
more frequent litters ".....what is a litter ?

it says , "saguaro  kangaroo  rats generally leave watering holes"  .......but where do they go ?  It just says they go away.  They don't stay near the watering holes.  Nothing in the text is more specific than that.
"
where food and water  are abundant" ...does it mean , watering holes had food and water ? Yes.
"
during the day  " .....what does it mean in this context ?  No special meaning.  Many animals like to be at one place while it is daytime and at another place while it is nighttime.

"
more frequent litters ".....what is a litter ?  A group of little baby animals that were all born at almost the same time.
