Hello. First time posting, and I hope I'm posting in the right place.

I want to ask after "same as", what pronoun should I use?  As in the sentence, "My friend was trapped in the same room as him/he".  Why would you use one rather than the other?

Thank you in advance.

My friend was trapped in the same room as him.

It is the object position, not the subject position.

Thank you for the quick reply.

I thought that was the case, but I didn't know why, so I wanted to make sure. Thank you for clearing that up for me.
