Hi!
Can you, please, check the bolded words here. Thank you.

In case of index of interethnic openness, with the examinees of both samples, the rejection of the ideas of ethnocentrism and ethnic segregation make significant predictors which explain a part/partly of variance of that phenomenon.

Hi Antonija,

My guess is that the original text is not well-written. This whole paragraph needs a lot of improvement, in my opinion. Here are just a few comments/edits.

In the case of the index of interethnic openness, with<< what is the intended meaning? Not clear.

the examinees of both samples, the rejection of the ideas of ethnocentrism and ethnic segregation make the subject in grammar terms is the singular 'rejection', which seems not to be the writer's intention

significant predictors which explain a part/partly of the variance of that phenomenon.

'examinees' is not a standard word

'the variance of that phenomenon' is a very vague phrase

Hi Clive,
Thank you very much for your post.

'samples' -I guess it can be replaced by 'groups'.
For the rest of it, I'll have to check with the author. Thank you once agian
The subject is: 'rejection of... and ethnic segregation'.
instead of 'with' it should be: In the case of the index of interethnic openness of the examinees...

Hi,

The subject is: 'rejection of... and ethnic segregation'. That's not clear.

I suggest - ethnic segregation and the rejection of the ideas of ethnocentrism make significant predictors .

instead of 'with' it should be: In the case of the index of interethnic openness of the examinees...

Too many of's, Antonija.

And 'examinees' is still not a word. How about 'the people being examined'?

Hello Clive,
I guess examinees could ne replaced by 'respondents'.
Thank you Clive
Hi,

I think that you should stick with "examinees". I don't know why Clive says it's not a word when a Google search returns many pages containing the word. But you also should pay more attention to the structure of your sentences as they tend to be really difficult to read and understand. I guess that when you write a sentence you can understand what it means simply because you wrote it. You should, however, put yourself in the position of another person reading the sentence. Good luck with your essay.

Thank you Ivan for your advice. I'll try to follow it.
I'm not sure whether 'examinees' refers more to the people who are taking exams. You don't think respondents is OK?
Antonija, I'm not saying that examinees is the best word to use in your text. I'm just saying that you can find that word in a dictionary. I guess in your text people are being observed rather than examined so the word observee might be considered.
