Robin Hood: I live in the forest with good fellows who've
everything in life save (except for?) spiritual guidance. And no merit but one.

Friar Tuck: And what's that?
Robin Hood: We're outlaws. Since we're newborn to the greenwood,
we need someone to do our christenings. (To convert them to Christianity?)So we've chosen you.
Friar Tuck: Not I. They've probably all got your taking ways. They're thieves?
Robin Hood: Of course. But you'll love them, one and all.

Yes.

No. This is the definition from Answers.com: The Christian sacrament of baptizing and naming an infant. Obviously there are no infants involved so Robin just means baptizing his men and possibly seeing to their other religious needs.

Yes. Just as Robin is.

What about newborn/infant? Is this a joke of some kind he makes?

Or maybe he means enlighten them?

I'm not entirely sure what your confusion is. The definition of "christening" includes "naming an infant" which clearly doesn't apply to Robin's band of men, thus my comment that "obviously there are no infants involved."

This is the definition of "christening" from Answers.com: The Christian sacrament of baptizing and naming an infant.

Possibly the definition of "christen" will be more helpful (also from Answers.com): http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery?s=christen&gwp=13
