What do you call a portion of ice-cream in the form of a ball : "scoop" or "ball"? Thanks in advance.

It's correct, and it's used to order what you want in an ice-cream shop or any other situation where someone is offering you ice-cream.

The choice of what to put your ice cream scoop in can be bewildering in some ice cream shops. There's the paper or plastic dish (some old-fashioned places still use glass), which is often called a cup---"Cone or cup?" But sometimes there are several different varieties of cones: the flat-bottomed kind, the pointy kind, and for a while here in the US we were offered gigantic "waffle cones," for which there was an extra charge.
