I am looking for an expression ''we got additional self-confidence''.  Is it ok?

JB: We sail forty days a year on average, and our wish is to be among the first ten on the ISAF list, which isn't that easy considering the competition. Winning of this year's ACI Adris Match Race Cup surprised even us. Having in mind this year's competition our goal was to reach semi-final. Now, of course, we expect a little bit more because we have gained additional self-confidence.

I think I'd use the verb 'to boost'. Therefore something like :
'... because our self-confidence has been boosted.'
or
'... as this has boosted our self-confidence'.
Another verb that would apply quite well is 'to bolster' which means 'to strengthen'.
