It would appear that there are two formal nights when you can all get dressed up
I should be grateful if someone can analyse the above sentence
The grammar section of word tells me that the sentence should read "there IS two formal nights

Word is not always reliable. I don't trust it.
"there is two ..." is not correct. "there are two ..." is correct.
