the Epidermal growth factor receptor, through activation of matrix
metalloproteinase, by the βγ subunits, and subsequently cleavage and release of
membrane bound heparin bound epidermal growth factor, has also been
demonstrated. Because EGFR activates ERK1/2 and, in turn, induce expression
of the proto oncogen c-fos (16), and other genes involved in cell
proliferation, GPR30’s role in cancinogenisis has been
questioned.
