I want to understand what these sentences mean; "She will lose the man she desired through pique, but she will win a well-meaning and faithful husband. Her engagements will be somewhat disappointing."

This isn't very good writing, it's quite bland and contradictory at times.

Perhaps:
She's an angry woman. She will lose lovers as a result of this. Still, she might be able to get a good husband. But some people might avoid meeting her.
