Hello

I am not sure if this sentences are right or not in terms of their grammar, word choice, and semantics. If you find something wrong, please help me edit them. Thank you very much.

1. I had to figure out that the gist of theories my professor was talking about in class would enable me not only to answer the questions in-class exams but also to write my term
2. I had to figure out that the gist of theories my professor was talking about in class ,enabling me not only to answer the questions in-class exams but also to write my term paper
Which one is better?

3. Jotting down the main ideas I would use in an outline made it possible for me to organize the fabric wave of paragraph by paragraph.

Which one is better? I prefer  #1.

I wonder if you mean 'the theories' rather than 'theories'.

3. Jotting down the main ideas I would use in an outline made it possible for me to organize the fabric wave of paragraph by paragraph.  I don't understand what you mean by 'fabric wave'.

Best wishes, Clive
