How come this sentence structure is incorrect, and could someone help me correct the sentence?
There school performance is always behind of other students due to they are not seious enough to study.

Or perhaps;
Because they don't study seriously, their (that group of student's) performance is always worse than other students.

Their school performance is always behind that of other students due to the fact that they are not serious enough to study.

Here, a variation:

Their school performance is always behind other students because they are not serious enough to study.

Does that make sense to you?
