Your question leads me to believe that you think there is something wrong with the sentence. Why don't you first tell us what you think is wrong with it?

I don't think anything is wrong...but am unsure why kidnapped is in the past tense when everything else seems to be in the present tense.

The word "kidnapped" is the past participle of the verb "kidnap". Saying "get kidnapped" is a sort of passive structure -- like saying "I'll make sure you are not kidnapped".

The verb "get" is the word that carries the tense in that passive form. For example, if someone kidnapped you yesterday, you could say "I got kidnapped yesterday."
