Can anyone advise whether the following sentences are grammatically correct and whether 1.1. and 1.2 are equivalent, whether 2.1 and 2.2 are equivalent:

1.1  Aini takes the bus to school every day.

1.2  The bus takes Aini to school every day.

2.1  Please wash the dishes after dinner.

2.2 After dinner please wash the dishes.

Appreciate to hear any feedback.  Thank you!

Hi,

Can anyone advise whether the following sentences are grammatically correct and whether 1.1. and 1.2 are equivalent, whether 2.1 and 2.2 are equivalent:

1.1  Aini takes the bus to school every day.

1.2  The bus takes Aini to school every day.

The above are both correct grammar, and there is very little difference in meaning. 1.1 stresses more that it is Aini's choice to use the bus. In 1.2, perhaps her parents put her on the bus kicking and screaming that she doesn't want to go to school. Smile [:)]

2.1  Please wash the dishes after dinner.

2.2 After dinner please wash the dishes.

Again, correct grammar and very little difference. Generally speaking, 2.1 stresses what task is to be done while 2,2 stresses when it should be done.

Best wishes, Clive
