Hello,

Please approve my answers to the following question.  My answers are at the bottom of the page, in red font..

Rearrange the sixteen sentences below in their proper order to make a story.  The story should consist of four paragraphs, each paragraph containing four sentences:

  2. I want to tell you of Sam Browne.
  3. Ruth is his daughter’s name.
  4. For my help, Sam usually gives me some sweets or, perhaps, an apple.
  5. For his kindness to me, I bought the old man a pipe and tobacco at Christmas.
  6. His skin is wrinkled and his hair white so that you can guess he is old.
  7. He has two dogs, three cats, a canary and a tame jackdaw.
  8. Sam is never happier than when, smoking his pipe, he is surrounded by his pets.
  9. Sam is tall and thin.
  10. I sometimes help Ruth by doing errands.
  11. Although I didn’t wish for any gift in return, he sent me a book of adventure stories.
  12. It is very amusing to see his jackdaw follow him down the street.
  13. He has a son and a daughter.
  14. Finally, I must mention that Sam is a great animal-lover.
  15. Old Sam is a widower.
  16. Ruth acts as her father’s housekeeper.

  • Paragraph 1: (2, 15, 6, 1)
  • Paragraph 2: (9, 13, 3, 16)
  • Paragraph 3:  (10, 4, 5, 11)
  • Paragraph 4:  (14, 7, 12, 8)

I want to tell you of Sam Browne.  Old Sam is a widower.  His skin is wrinkled and his hair white so that you can guess he is old.  In spite of his age, he has keen eyesight.

Sam is tall and thin.  He has a son and a daughter.  Ruth is his daughter’s name.  Ruth acts as her father’s housekeeper.

I sometimes help Ruth by doing errands.  For my help, Sam usually gives me some sweets or, perhaps, an apple.  For his kindness to me, I bought the old man a pipe and tobacco at Christmas.  Although I didn’t wish for any gift in return, he sent me a book of adventure stories.

Finally, I must mention that Sam is a great animal-lover. He has two dogs, three cats, a canary and a tame jackdaw.  It is very amusing to see his jackdaw follow him down the street.  Sam is never happier than when, smoking his pipe, he is surrounded by his pets.
