Seth dropped in on Tammy after school.

Seth dropped by Tammy's house and paid her a visit after school.

Do both of the above sound right and convey a similar idea? Thanks.

Yes, but the first does not make it clear that the location is Tammy's house.

Hi,

Seth dropped by Tammy's house and paid her a visit after school. The two parts of this are not absolutely identical in meaning, but together seem redundant. Just say either

Seth dropped by Tammy's house after school

or Seth paid Tammy a visit after school.
