I'd agree that 'will' is more commonly used than 'shall'.

In questions, 'shall' is used for the 1st person:

1. 'Shall I answer your question?'
2. 'Shall we go?'

In BrE, 'shall' is still fairly commonly used in the 1st person, especially for emphasis:

3. 'Do you think José Mourinho will sign up Ronaldinho next season?' 'We shall have to wait and see.'

I don't think 'shall' is very popular in AmE, though.

You got it! You can go a lifetime in the U.S. without ever hearing it or using it. (Same for "whom", by the way.)

At most it'll be "Shall I leave you two to discuss it?", "Shall we get going?", etc., i.e., first person questions.
