Is it true that "shall" has become obsolete in American English? What about is use in British English?

If it is still in use, could you please tell me the difference? Thanks!

There isn't any difference between shall and will. Generally, if you're talking about "I" or "we", then use shall.

It's certainly still around in British English too although I very much doubt anybody would correct you if you used 'will' instead.
