Dear All:

--
She deferred her salary for 45% of the profits.

The sentence is in the line of the 7th paragraph.
I made some change.

1) Does the "deferred" here mean "To commit or entrust to another"?
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/defer
2) If yes, what's the meaning of the sentence?
I am kinda confused by "for 45% of the profits."
How much on earth did she donate? 45% of the salary? or 45% of the profits?

She deferred her salary She said, 'Don't give me my salary now. Keep the money, and then give it to me at some time in the future'.

for 45% of the profits. She said, 'Instead of giving me my salary now, give me 45% of the profits'.

As you can see, she was not exactly generous. I think 'defer' may be the wrong word. Perhaps a more likely meaning is 'She gave up her salary in return for 45% of the profits'.

Best wishes, Clive
