Keep the money, and then give it to me at some time in the future'. for 45% of the profits.She said, 'Instead of giving me my salary now, give me 45% of the profits'. As you can see, she was not exactly generous. I think 'defer' may be the wrong word. Perhaps a more likely meaning is 'She gave up her salary in return for 45% of the profits'.
