Hello,

I am writing an academic paper for a journal.

Would it be appropriate to shorthand "respectively" as "resp."?

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I am writing an academic paper for a journal.

Would it be appropriate to shorthand "respectively" as "resp."?

Does anyone else do that in articles that are published in this journal?

It doesn't sound like a good idea to me, and I don't see it as a standard abbreviation. Why not just write the full word? The abbreviation does not seem very much shorter.

Best wishes, Clive

Hi Exciter

Are you by any chance German?
Your question reminds me of what my German students always wanted to write. There is a similar word in German, so my students always wanted to abbreviate 'respectively' as they would do in German.  Unfortuately, this is not a commonly abbreviated word in English.
