The author also suggests that doubling the charge for garbage pickup will increase the amount of material being recycled. However, I personally doubt the feasibility of such measurement. For the garbage produced every day, only small portion of them could be recycled through public effort. Beside, recycling papers, tins and cans should be part of our obligation. Increasing pickup charges will not only bring repulsion to the public, but also discourage their current morale for recycling. If government implemented the charge act, people would question the government by saying why we have made such great effort to help the recycling process, but still get the punishment of raise our garbage charges. Any judicious government official should never include this measurement into their future plan. Instead of elevate the cost, why not reducing? People will be favored to see their efforts being paid off.
