Once a grasshopper saw some ants moving
hurriedly. He asked one of them, “Why are you in such a hurry.” One of the ants
replied, “Winter is coming. We are collecting food so that when winter comes,
we will have food to eat.”
The grasshopper replied, “Why are you
collecting food so early. You can do so later.” After saying that, he continued
on his way.
The ants collected food day by day. Soon
winter came. The ants stayed indoors and were not hungry as they had stored a
lot of food..
The grasshopper had no food to eat. He was
hungry and cold. He thought of the ants. He went to their house and knocked on
the door.
The leader of the ants asked, “Why have you
come to visit us?”
The grasshopper replied, “Now I know that I
am wrong. I should have collected food before winter came. Could you give me
some food?”
“You may come in and stay with us until
winter is over. You can also share our food.”
The grasshopper was very happy and grateful
to the leader of the ant. “Thank you,” he said.
