Usually, when a personal pronoun is used, the final verb is dropped. As in;
He is taller than I.

But what about the following;
1. Arnold is less confident than Charles is.
2. The red bicycle is less expensive than the blue one.

These sentences have been taken from a website. The final verb has not been dropped in the first sentence while it has been in the second one. Shouldn't we place is at the end of the 2nd sentence.

Does that have colse relevance with the personal pronoun?Thinking [8-)]

IMO

He is taller than I.=He is taller than I am=He is taller than I am tall.

Arnold is less confident than Charles is.=Arnold is less confident than Charles=Arnold is less confident than Charles is confident.

The red bicycle is less expensive than the blue one.=The red bicycle is less expensive than the blue one is.=The red bicycle is less expensive than the blue one is expensive.

I guess people would prefer the most concise ones.
