Hi Joe,

No, you shouldn't, not unless you've got a subordinate clause.

"About ten years ago I owned a FIAT."
This is correct. A comma after "ago" would be redundant.

"About ten years ago, when I was much younger than I am now, I owned a FIAT."
A comma is necessary because of the subordinate clause.

Please help me! I am writing an essay for school and don't know if I should place commas.

First sentence:

I don't know how to drive and I get rashes when I'm nervous.

[Should I place a comma after drive?]

Second sentence:

I love to laugh and I laugh at almost anything.

[Should I place a comma after I love to laugh?]

Thank you!

Yes, I would place commas at both points you indicate.

"About ten years ago, when I was much younger than I am now, I owned a FIAT."

It's funny, though, matthewg, your subordinate clause is semantically redundant, isn't it? Smile [:)]

Is this sentence correct?

I'm not that kind of person, really, I'm different from everyone else?

Thanks so much!

Replace the second comma with a semicolon:

I'm not that kind of person, really; I'm different from everyone else.

I like to sing and dance, because I'm seeking attention, and I get it. I earn it, actually.

I don't much care for it.  Change the second comma to a period.  Move the second and to after the first it.  Change the first period to a comma.

I like to sing and dance, because I'm seeking attention.  I get it, and I earn it, actually.
