I don't believe the topic is about whether or not a physically capable human being can commit suicide (as of course absolutely no penalty can ever be enforced against someone that is already dead). The Korean student was already suicidal. He wanted to kill himself; the homicidal aspect was secondary (but of course much more atrocious).

As for the topic of Euthanasia (or assisted suicide), it is illegal in most American states. "Dr. Death," Jack Kervorkian, made a name for himself here helping terminally ill people pass on, but he was eventually brought down.
Personally, I think a person should have a right to be killed in a humane way. This should be regulated, but allowed. J

Just my two cents.

Who has the right to force me to live in misery?

When I am in such pain that my life is a burdon on me why does some interferer have any rights at all.

My life and my decision to end it has nothing to do with strangers who can not possibly know what pain I endure.

This is purely a religious issue.

It is only god botherers who want to interfere in this area.

I think there is no such a thing we can define as a right in such situation. A basic right comes out when the other people are involved. Even if one single person likes you and doesn't want you to die, you have no consciencious right as long as he or she is involved. Otherwise if you got nerve and wonder so much about beyond the world, you can arbitrarily be your own murderer right now, because a right does not go beyond the world, it stays there where it was created. At least that's what I think...

I once read it from an article that there's one very ill and disabled girl who cannot move or do anything except being a burden for her parents. And she really wants to die,. But the law doesn't allow it. How do you think?

It may be the right of an individual to put an end to his/her life, but we should aslo think that what other people expect from us. If you are passing through hard times, then you should think of your own life but also of your nearer and dearer ones who want you to be with them

I agree Sdk, that's exactly what people should think. You have kind of simplified what I tried to tell. Smile [:)]

With all due respect, Sdk,

We are not discussing someone passing through hard times.

We are discussing people who are either terminally ill and in chronic pain or people whose quality of life has deteriorated to the point that they can no longer live their life.

You are in a wheelchair. You cannot move any part of your body, except your eyes. You are in pain all the time. Your body is just your prison.

I wouldn't say that is living. That is not a life. That is a torture..

To die is to sleep, no more.

Maybe this is little bit out of the topic, but I suppose that either I'm unable to understand how people can think of being dead before they die or they've been resurrected. I think people who are born handicapped do not possess the ability of feeling how better life they would have if they were normal. I mean what we call suffering is just what we're not accostumed to. It's how they were created and it's not our business to decide whether they should live. It's so sad, but unfortunately indispensible.

I'm not trying to deprive anyone from life.

But I don't want to force anyone who does not want to live to go on living, either.

If a terminally ill person wants to go on living, perfect.

If he or she does not, perfect.

What good can it be to go on suffering when there is no cure and you are going to die soon, anyway?

One month, two months of pain?

Is it worthwile?

If the answer is yes, by all means, go on.

If the answer is not, then you should be allowed to die as you wish and when you wish.
