I'm editing my own book and am confused about the use of single vs. double quotation marks when emphsizing or highlighting a term, not in a quote. It sounds like the English would use single quotation marks, newspapers would use single qutotation marks, and some technical writing would as well. But the US way would be to really just use double or regular quotation marks -
for example :
Any little intuitive "knowing" who's on the other end of the phone before you answer or books "falling out" on you in libraries.....
Is the regular quotation mark appropriate or the single quotation mark?
