The plural of 'octopus' is either 'octopi' and 'octopuses'.

Strictly speaking, "octopi" isn't the correct plural of octopus, since plural "-i" endings relate to second declension Latin nouns, which "octopus" isn't.

But I suppose we're stuck with "octopi" now.

I agree!  It sounds very awkward to say, "I drank two beers."  I believe one should say, "I drank two beer."

Hi,

It sounds very awkward to say, "I drank two beers."  I believe one should say, "I drank two beer." I've never in my life heard the latter.

Best wishes, Clive

Possibly because the people you hang out with have several more than that? or perhaps "I drank a keg of beer?"

(Okay, I'm kidding. I've never heard "two beer" or any other plural number with singlar beer either.)

Never heard "two beer". But I've heard "ten beer" and "tens beer". Usually after ten beers.
