I read this sentence on ESPNsoccernet:

Ronaldo added a second in the third minute of injury time after United broke with a swift counter-attack and the Portuguese winger calmly slotted home.

I dont understand what "slotted home" means Sad [:(]

Can you explain that meaning?

Hi,

I read this sentence on ESPNsoccernet:

Ronaldo added a second in the third minute of injury time after United broke with a swift counter-attack and the Portuguese winger calmly slotted home.

I dont understand what "slotted home" means

In soccer, 'home' refers to the goal area. A 'slot' is a precise space.

In other words, he kicked the ball precisely into the goal.

Best wishes, Clive
