(a) He had totally sold forty-seven of storybooks.  He sold forty-seven storybooks in all.  He sold a total of forty-seven storybooks.

(b) He sold / sold out / up forty-seven storybooks.   "Sold out" is an expression which means he sold all the storybooks he had.  His stock of storybooks is completely gone.

(c) He packed the books in / into some boxes. He sold them out.  Either one is used.  "Into" places emphasis on the process of arranging them in the box.

(d) Each bag of mangoes cost / costs $5 and tomatoes costs/cost $ 5 each.  ("Bag" is singular; "tomatoes" is plural   -   unless your example means "bag of tomatoes.")  He sold out all the books.
