If someody had time to check my personal statement to a university, I would be really grateful for that. Thanx

Having a huge interest in computer and communication technology and in information technology in general and a tremendous will to explore this field, I have always admired complicated computer systems. These systems make our lives much easier and at the same time more interesting and challenging, and their importance in the modern world is invaluable. It is really hard to imagine our lives without computers, mobile phones or other devices, which help us to act faster, more precisely and effectively. However, these technologies are not staying the same, they are constantly evolving and becoming capable of solving wider ranges of problems and faster than before. As I am aware of the unlimited progress of computer technology in the future and a vast range of specializations this progress offers, I find the courses in computer and information technology engineering so stimulating and exciting.

During the last six years, I have been studying in the Riga State Gymnasium No.1, which is constantly ranked as the best school in Latvia because of its highly skilled teachers, completely different approach to tuition and excellent teaching quality. It specializes in mathematics, computers and physics therefore I can truly admit that I am particularly good at these subjects. Every year I have the honour of participating in various competitions and Olympiads in mathematics, physics, chemistry, economics and programming. I am proud to say that I constantly achieve high results but particularly in mathematics where I have an international award. As one of my hobbies is solving different math and physics problems, I have been studying mathematics and physics, and attended advanced courses in these subjects at the University of Latvia. I’ve also attended programming courses where I fully acquired the Pascal and C++ programming languages, object-oriented programming skills and algorithms for effective programming. Apart from English, I am also fluent in Russian and have basic conversational skills in German. All that together makes me the right person for the career in computer engineering.

In addition to academic achievements, I also have accomplishments in sports. Particularly in swimming, I have been swimming for 13 years and have some international distinctions.  I also like playing football and basketball and I am glad to say that I have been a member of a football and basketball team in school. I often go hiking with friends because I love an adventurous life and so it may be said with assurance that free time activities is a large component of my life. Moreover I enjoy communicating with people and making new friends. I have taken part in several team competitions where I have proved myself a worthy, highly motivated and effective team player.

I am planning to obtain a masters degree in Computer Systems Engineering in the. Computers and their technology affect each and everyone of us. So the demand for innovative people with considerable knowledge in Computer Systems Engineering is ever growing. This is the second reason why I have chosen this profession. After some work experience I am considering a possibility of starting my own business associated with computer technologies.

The United Kingdom is the most appropriate place for me to study because of several reasons. First of all, highly respected qualifications are very important in the modern world and education is a solid foundation for my future. Secondly, the quality control standards in the UK institutions are among the best so I will acquire a high education of good quality, with the most modern standards and techniques that will be vital for me and my ambitions for the future. Finally, the UK offers great opportunities for research what makes it even more appealing to me. So in other words, there are ideal preconditions for higher education in the UK and opportunities for me to develop myself as a person.

My parents have taught me that in order to be successful, I must enjoy what I am doing. This is why I have chosen the challenging and fascinating vocation of Computer Systems Engineering and to study it in the United Kingdom.
