Hi, I'm trying to apply for an upcoming nursing training program and would appreciate if someone can check my cover letter b4 I send it. Thank you so much!!! its posted below:

I am writing to express my great interest and enthusiasm in obtaining a position in 123 Hospital’s perinatal training program. I’m a capable and experience register nurse with an excellent education from 345 College. Since graduating I have developed and practiced my nursing skills as a registered nurse on a Med/Surge unit at ABC Medical Center. In addition to my Med/Surge experience, I have precepted at ABC’s Labor and Delivery unit under the direct supervision from the Perinatal Clinical Nurse Specialist.

A few of the skills I have developed while precepting on a high acute Labor and Delivery unit are Fetal Heart Monitoring, assisting with epidural placement, complicated births, cesarean birth, alternative pain management and monitoring mother and baby for post partum complications. Additionally, to these perinatal skills, I can also contribute the knowledge I have developed while working as a Med/Surge RN, such as blood transfusion, IV administration, aseptic techniques, wound care, phlebotomy, advocating for the patient and acting as an intermediary between family, patients and physicians.

As a nurse I enjoy the incredible relationship that I have developed with my patients. I especially enjoyed the special companionship and bonding that perinatal nurses develop with laboring mothers and their families. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and would like to continue the skills and memories I have acquired in my preceptorship and as a med-surge nurse and bring them to such an esteem teaching hospital as UCSF.

Hi,

The term 'cover letter' means a letter that is sent along with a copy of your resume.

Are you sending a resume with this, or is this letter meant to contain all of the relevant information about you, your skills and your work history?

Oh yes, there is a resume, its an old resume that I had the career center look at and corrected before I graduated from nursing school, but unfortunately since I'm not a student anymore, I can't use the career center's resources again to correct my cover letter. Thank you very much. Gini
