Hello! I am Lucille, and I'm from Spain, Barcelona. I am a 17 years-old student, and I am looking for friends to talk in english for two main reasons: I want to study for being an english teacher (and a spanish teacher in another countries) so I have to speak english very well, and I like knowing other cultures and meeting people from all over the world. Hope I meet you :) Thanks.

Hi Lucille
I am a middle aged Mancunian (person from Manchester) and would be glad to exchange information with you about the United Kingdom, its history and culture. If you have any questions about our strange cultural ways ('welly-wanging', 'gurning' etc) please contact me or post a question.
There is a chatroom on the site too, where you can practise your English with people from around the world.
Perhaps you would be kind enough to help me with a query? I was recently in Alicante (I am so sorry for what the British and Germans have done to that area - creating non-Spanish speaking ghettos) and was criticised by my stepmother for using the phrase 'por favor' for please. She informed me that Spanish people no longer use that phrase, but she could not give me an alternative phrase to use. I am a very polite person and like to say please and thank you. Could you please advise me how to say please in Spanish in these modern times - I learnt Spanish 25 years ago and am visiting Valencia in June.
Thanks in advance, and I hope you enjoy the website and find it useful. There are many English teachers and fluent English speakers here, who will gladly help you. If I can be of assistance, don't hesitate to contact me.
