specially / make waves

My questions today are two things: one is related to the usage of the word "specially" and the other, meaning of the phrase "make waves."

If you have any idea about them, would you comment some for me & probably others who read this.^^

Is it usual way to use the word "specially" in front of a sentence, meaning 'especially or in particular' ?

ex)
       Aside from food, Eastern and Middle Asian pop culture trends are making waves in the West. Specially, Forbes introduced that Korean popular music characterized by Latin rhythms and hip-hop beats D is one of trends spreading across the world.


Q2:
Can the phrase "make waves" be used in a positive situation?
Or how do you think it should be understood in the sentence above?

American Heritage Dictionary lists 'specially', but offers nothing to indicate the difference between it and 'especially', which I use exclusively.

'Making waves' is usually used in a negative sense.  Don't make waves = don't upset anyone.  [Waves can come in off the ocean and destroy what is on the beach.]
