Hi,
Please read the subject "Szilent Kletters" as "Silent letters", because it has Z is silent and K is silent in kletters.
Okey okey, comming to point,
I know there is no meaning to the just above said.
Many times I asked my self why do we have the silent letters in the words like knight, knife, could, would, tsunami etc., I even asked my teachers (in school days) , but didnt find the answer.
I am expecting the answer from one of the members.
Thank you

Hi
Sometimes it is a mispronounciation of a foreign word - tsunami for example. Although most English speakers say soo-nami, it is a Japanese (I believe) word that sound with the 'ts' sound not an 's'. Likewise Tsar/Tzar etc. Where the native sound is not used in English it is adapted to its closest sound.
With the silent ks it is a case of change over time. The k used to be pronounced in old English.

Nona is right. German still has the kn sound pronounced. Many sounds changed in english, for example the e in four letter words (hate, race, rake) used to be pronounced, but now it just tells us to use "ej" for a.
