Hello everyone,

I have some problems in figuring out exact meaning of some words in the dialogue below.

I have guessed some but can't be sure about them so... if you have any idea about them, would you care to comment some?

Thanks a lot ~ ^ ^

The words I need to figure out the meanings of are 'take' in first line and 'The economy' in second line and eighth line.

My guess for 'take' is 'income' or 'any accomplishment in trying to get a job'.

As for 'The economy', my guesses are 'overall economical situation in the society' for the second line  and 'attitudes to save money or frugality'

Here is the dialgue:

StartFragment>

M: What is your take on the current job market?

W: Its not very positive. The economy was great for a couple of years, but it looks like its about to take a nosedive.

M: Thats our assessment as well. Were positive a number of companies are going to begin laying off workers relatively soon.

W: But thats not the case for your firm.

M: Not at all. If it were, you and I wouldnt be talking today. However, that means we can be picky about whom we choose to employ.

W: I suppose Im up against some stiff competition.

M: Yes, thats true, but were impressed with your qualifications. Depending upon how well you do today, we may call you in for a second round.

W: Thats exactly what Im hoping for. Like I said earlier, Im not confident in the economy, so I need to secure some employment really soon.

M: Going by your transcript and qualifications, Id say youll be sure to do that. Now, why dont I introduce you to some of the other people with whom youll be speaking today?

W: That sounds great to me.

.
Take = understanding, interpretation, view
The economy =  the 'overall economical situation in the society' in both instances in your excerpt.
