Can I say,

Put a teaspoon of tea / tea leaves in a tea pot. Pour some boiling water into it. After a short while, strain the tea / tea leaves left.

Pour some boiling water into it. After a short while, strain the tea / tea leaves left.  -  You don't need left here.
