I've been teaching around Latin America for the past four years, currently living in Uruguay. I work on my own but
I sometimes give some hours to other companies and institutes, as a way of networking and developing new contacts. I work with my wife, who is a native Spanish speaker and legal secretary, on translation projects.
I haven't had much success "cold calling" lawyers, even with an introduction they are a very cautious group. They can be very slow to trust especially as the nature of much of their work may be confidential. It's worked best for me to start with the younger associates, they probably have more time and are more eager, looking for ways to make themselves more valuable. Once you are a common site around the office, more established attorneys may seek you out when a project or special problem arises. One thing leads to another, once they trust you they are very loyal clients.
Good luck!
