I've googled this topic a couple of time without but nothing really practical came up.

Does anyone have any suggestions as far as teaching a text goes (reading comprehension).

I like to help my students to identify the main ideas of each paragraphs and translate the new words or draw them on the board or explain them by using synomyms or giving a simple definitions.

I also try to explain new grammatical content, idioms or verbal phrases.

I feel like it's kind of getting repetitive however. I am really open to suggestions as far as reading comprehension is concerned. I'm following my instinct but I don't really have much formation (apart for a TEFL) and we didn't cover that during my training.

We had reading comprehension lesson last term and the book was really good.It helps students to develop their reding comprehension skills , there are clues for finding main ideas, thesis statements...Even there is a test which enables you to realize what kind of learner you are and which strategies you should follow but the problem is that my teacher keeps the name of the book as a secret. If I can learn I will tell you.
