Hello Teachers,

1.By the time I reached home, Daddy (came,had come).

2.When I reached their house, they (were playing tennnis/had palyed tennis).


Which one is correct choice given in the brackets?

1. This is a bit awkward as it stands. "had come" is better, but the whole sentence would be said a little differently.

By the time I reached home, Daddy was already there.
By the time I reached home, Daddy had already arrived.
Daddy had already come home by the time I got there.

2. "When I reached their house, they were playing tennis" is more idiomatic.
