Hi everyone,
Let's take the sentence "I'm tired because I have been working hard" (in the present)
In the past, we would have: "I was tired because I had been working hard"

Question 1
What would the sentence be in the future:
1a) I will be tired because I will have been working hard or
1b) I will be tired because Iwould have been working hard

Question 2
Imagine now that (in the past) I didn't work, I could say:
"I would have been tired if I had been working hard"
Now I want to express the same idea (conditional), but in the future (something was supposed to happen but wont happen anymore), e.g Imagine I was supposed to work tomorrow but my boss called to say that I dont work anymore tomorrow, so what should I say:
2a) (Tomorrow) I would have been tired if I had been working hard or
2b) ...????.... I don't know....

I hope I was clear enough Smile [:)] and I hope you can help me
Thanks

Hello Fab54

I'm a learner from Japan. I think I'm not a right person to answer to your question, but let me try. I'm sure some of moderators will come if I make serious mistakes.

What would the sentence be in the future:
1a) I will be tired because I will have been working hard.
1b) I will be tired because I would have been working hard.

I'll choose 1a.

"I would have been tired if I had been working hard"
Now I want to express the same idea, but in the future (something was supposed to happen but won't happen anymore), e.g., imagine I was supposed to work tomorrow but my boss called to say that I don't work anymore tomorrow, so what should I say:

I would be tired tomorrow too if my boss had not fired me today.

1. I'll be tired because I'll have been working hard.
2. *** ERROR *** DOES NOT COMPUTE - UNDEFINED GRAMMATICAL OPERATION - CONTACT SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR - THANK YOU FOR PLAYING.

I'm not sure there is logically such a thing as a future counterfactual.
I suppose "I would be tired tomorrow if I worked hard" or "I would have been tired if I had been working hard" would do in a pinch.

This is what i would normally say according to your sentence though i am not sure if they are the best sentences. Tenses can be confusing therefore i'd rather opt for simple tenses when constructing a sentence.

Q1
1a. I will be tired because I will have to work hard (later, tomorrow)
1b. I will be tired because I would be working hard

Q2
1a. I would have been tired if i had to work hard
1b. I would be tired if i had to work hard

Please tell me if my sentences are correct. Thanks

hello everybody,

My guess:

Q1
I will be tired tomorrow because I will be working hard.

Q2
I will be tired tomorrow if I have to work hard.
I think "if I'm working hard" and "if I work hard" are also possible.
