and also what about thanks a bunch?! thanks a bundle?!

Thank you is more formal than thanks.

Thank you very much is fine for a more formal setting.

Thank you so much is enthusiastic.

Thanks a lot is relatively informal.

Thanks a bunch is extremely informal.
