You will, I hope, have already thanked your boss when he tells you that you are getting a promotion, so if you wish to write a letter also, do it after receiving official written notification.

Don't call us 'my dears' in English, Qammar-- it is quite rude.

Please write a draft letter with your own effort and post it here, and we will review it for you.

Please provide your guidance on the letter below I would like to send to my supervisor within the next day or two.  Thank you.

Dear Carol,

I just want to express my appreciation to you and Dave, for the unexpected promotion notification today. I am humbled and grateful for the recognition, and this injects a stream of adrenaline in me that revitalizes my enthusiasm for a job that I love.   I continue to love what I do, and this promotion is icing on the cake.

Thank you again for the opportunity and recognition.

Respectfully,

Sorry, Anon, but I don't know what you did wrong in trying to post; your reply is not being held in the Moderation area now, so it should have appeared.

To reply to a post, click 'Reply' at the lower left of the post, type your comments, and then click 'Post' at the lower right of the message box.

Thank you so much for your kind response!  I so appreciate your assistance.  P.S.  I was the one who couldn't find my reply (which was this letter).   I realize that I just needed to wait!

Thanks again.  My letter is much more professional due to your assistance.

I would appreciate it if you could edit a letter I am trying to write to my boss.  I have included all the things I would like to say but I know there are some akward spots.  A ,ny suggestions you could offer would be appreciated.

Dear ***,

I just wanted to thank you for everything that you have done for me over the past two years. I really appreciate all of the opprotunities that you have given me.
Your unique perspective, positive attitude,  guidance and encouragement have made it a pleasure working with you.

I admire the passion with which you do your job and how you always have the perfect thing to say in a sticky situation. Working with you has changed my outlook on not only a career at ABC Co., but work in general.

I know you will achieve great things in your new role and I hope there will be more oppotunities for us to work together in the future.

Sincerley,
***
