Hi
It's my first post here .

I want to ask about the difference between 'That ' as a subordinating conjunction and as relative pronoun . How can i know the difference between both of them ??

for example :

I didnt know that a business like this need much working capita.

Please dont make that kind of mistake .

How do you know that ?

Either your terminology or your understanding is a bit confused, Mystery. 'That' is not always considered one of the relative pronouns (who, what, which), but when it is, it is simultaneously serving as a subordinating conjunction.

In 'I didn't know that a business like this needs much working capital', that' is both a relative pronoun and a subordinating conjunction, and is identified as such by the clause it heads.

In 'Please don't make that kind of mistake', 'that' is a demonstrative adjective, and is recognized by its inclusion in the noun phrase 'that kind (of mistake)', where it premodifies the noun 'kind'.

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master-- that's all.'
