Hi,

1.What are the differences between that day and on that day?

2.Would you please give me some examples?

Thank you very much.

They are often synonymous:  We are moving to Kobe (on) that day.

Only that day can operate as a subject or object:  I circled that day on my calendar.  That day will always remind me of you.

Hi,

Are the principles/rules you stated apply to the case involving dates, e.g. Sunday and on Sunday. Your reply will be appreciated.

Ex.

1) I played football on Sunday.

2) I played football Snday.

Are those two sentences 99.9% similar or 100% same?

On that day is not so commonly used as that day. We would really only say on that day when we are referring to some specific, special day.

The difference between these two sentences is in style rather than in meaning.

#2 is informal.
