In English vocabulary, there are many words that put emphasis on gender. But these words are slowly being taken away. Many people feel they are not politically correct, and the others may be offended by them. For example, some words that name professions end in 'man" or "ess."

Hi,

For a start, does "the others" sound right? Is it better to say "others" instead in the above?

Second, does "that name professions" in the above sound good? If not, how would you word it? Thanks.

Better, IMO:

There are many words in the English vocabulary that indicate the/make reference to gender.
