The English I learned in school is British one, but i find it is much different from American English in pronunciation, especially for stress accent. Now, I am afraid that I ould not make myself understood when meeting an American. |

If you have a British-sounding accent, or a British-Chinese mixed accent, I think most Americans will understand you perfectly well. There are many more similarities than differences between the British and American sound systems, so it's more likely people won't understand you because you have a strong Chinese accent, for instance, than if you have a mild British-English-influenced Chinese accent.
