..but language changes.

I'd join you in cacti, fish and fewer, but would use zebras as the plural of zebra as that is the standard form (and accepted in the dictionaries) these days.

Hi Nona

I've referred to three dictionaries (all latest editions) and they say that the plural of zebra is zebra or zebras. None of them says that zebras is the standard form.

However, I'm surprised that the plural of 'zebra' is also 'zebra'. I was taught that the plural of 'zebra' is 'zebras'.

I never heard of zebra as the plural of zebra. I always heard zebras.

And I was told fish is plural when talking about one species of fish and fishes is used when talking about more than one species of fish.

But I knew that with no ,any etc singular form is always used and verb should  also be singular

 There is no zebra as we say there is no one but not there are no one
