Hi,
What do these 2 prefixes mean?
de- Derived from the Latin de = from, down from. eg
activate / deactivate make active, make 'from' being active
compose / decompose bring elements together, take elements 'from' each other
e- a shortened form of the Latin ex = out, out from + various other meanings. eg
emerge , exit, exclude, exempt. All these verbs are often followed by the preposition 'from'.
Best wishes, Clive
