I would choose the correct one beeing   There are so many chances of error.
Simply because many and chances, the noun that forms the subject  here, are both plural.Second because it is plain text, there are many chances sounds better than much chance .

But chance(=possibility) is a countable noun and an uncountable noun (Oxford Advanced Dictionary).
